Halloween Meals and Snacks

Be prepared for halloween with these bizarre and funny recipes for main dishes and halloween snacks.

 

 

Chunky Cat Barf

1 lg Spaghetti Squash
8 oz Cottage Cheese
16 oz Mozzarella (grated)
8 oz Parmesan (grated)
1 qt Spaghetti sauce
1/2 green pepper, chopped

Cook squash. Fork out insides into a giant casserole dish. Add cottage cheese, spaghetti sauce, peppers, and half of the mozzarella and parmesan cheeses. Mix until it looks like cat barf.

Top with the remaining cheeses.

Bake at 350 degrees F. for about 45 minutes.

Halloween Cat Pizza

1 lb Frozen bread dough, thawed
2 ts Vegetable oil
1 c Mozzarella cheese, shredded
1 cn (15 oz) Tomato sauce
1 tb Onion, chopped
1 t Salt
1 t Oregano
1/2 ts Garlic powder
2 c Cheddar cheese, shredded
4 oz Pepperoni or salami, sliced
1 Green or Red pepper, cut into long thin strips
Black olives

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.

Divide dough in half. Roll and stretch each half into 10-12" circle on lightly-floured baking sheet. Turn up edges 1/2" and pinch or pleat. Brush circles with oil; sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.

Mix tomato sauce, onion, salt, oregano and garlic powder; pour on circles. Top with cheddar cheese.

Decorate with overlapping pepperoni slices around edge of pizzas.

Use olives for the eyes, olive pieces for the nose and mouth, and pepper strips for the whiskers.

Bake until crust is brown, 20-25 minutes. Makes 2 pizzas.

Hobgoblin Stew

2 tb Flour
1 1/2 ts Salt
1/8 ts Pepper
1 lb Stewing meat
3 tb Vegetable oil
1/4 c Chopped onion
3 c Water
1/2 ts Garlic powder
1 ts Thyme
1 ts Coriander
2 Potatoes; peeled and cubed
6 Carrots; peeled and sliced into rounds
1 c Frozen peas; thawed
1/2 c Evaporated milk

On plate, combine flour, salt and pepper; set aside.

Cut meat into bite-size cubes, then roll in flour mixture to coat. Reserve flour mixture.

Heat vegetable oil in saucepan set on stove top over medium-low heat. Add meat and brown, stirring occasionally with mixing spoon, then sprinkle in remaining flour mixture. Add onion; cook until limp. Add water, garlic powder, thyme and coriander; bring to boil. Cover and cook over low heat for about an hour.

After the hour is up, add the potatoes, carrots and additional water as needed. Cover and cook 10 minutes. Add peas and continue to cook about 5 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Stir in evaporated milk. Heat through, but do NOT boil.

To serve, pour into hollowed-out pumpkin shell which has been decorated to look like a spooky jack-o'-lantern by using a black marker pen.

Scary Hallowen Spider Sandwiches

2 slices bread
Peanut butter
4 raisins
black licorice whip, cut to size

Spread peanut butter on the bread and cut into a circle using a round cookie cutter.

Place two raisins for the eyes

Use licorice for the 8 legs.

Lizard Skins

1/2 c Peanut butter
12 oz Marshmallows
4 dr Green food coloring
4 c Rice krispies
Pam spray
16 Raisins

Heat peanut butter with marshmallows in a large saucepan over low heat until melted. Add green food coloring and mix in. Pour in rice krispies cereal and stir quickly.

Spray 8" pan with pam then pour contents into pan.

Allow to cool in fridge, then cut into long thin strips, about 1" x 4".

Cut each raisin in half and stick on one end of each strip to make the lizard's eyes.

Gnarled Witches Fingers

1 tb Vegetable oil
4 Boneless chicken breasts
1 c Flour
1 Egg beaten
1 c Bread crumbs
Pitted black olives, halved lengthwise
Shredded lettuce

Grease cookie sheet with oil, set aside.

Carefully cut chicken breasts part way to create five fingers (the uncut part will be the palm of the hand). Dust in flour, dip in beaten egg and then bread crumbs.

Broil 5 minutes on each side till golden brown and cooked through.

Trim the finger tips with the halved black olives and serve on lettuce.

Halloween Toadstools

Peanut butter
Saltine crackers
Hershey bar*
marshmallow, large, cut in halves

*Cut into pieces a bit smaller than the cracker.
Spread peanut butter on the saltine crackers. Top with Hershey bar pieces and marshmallow halves.

Microwave 20 seconds. Enjoy.
